From San Francisco, California, Bethel-Thompson was named as the City’s Football Player of the Year in 2006, and committed to UCLA to play college ball; however, he decided to transfer to California State University, Sacramento.
After going undrafted in 2011, Bethel-Thompson signed with the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League. His stellar play there earned him a contract with the San Francisco 49ers. He also has stints with the Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and Philadephia Eagles. In addition, Bethel-Thompson played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL.
In 2017, Bethel-Thompson turned to The Spring League to rejuvenate his career and give him recent game film and practice reps against elite competition. Stanzi’s performance at The Spring League earned him a tryout with the New York Jets, and eventually a deal with the Toronto Argonauts.
