From Pittsburgh, PA, Garner was ranked as Pennsylvania’s 18th overall prospect by Sout.com. He decided to attend the University of Wisconsin as a wide receiver for the Badgers. He also appeared at defensive end, and on kickoff coverage.
In 2012, Garner decided to transfer closer to home to play at the University of Pittsburgh. He thrived in the tight end and H-back role, starring with WR Tyler Boyd (Bengals) to form a formidable duo for the Panthers.
Garner’s versatility has proven to be an asset for NFL clubs. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a FB, then with the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, and Denver Broncos as a TE.
In 2017, Garner decided to participate in The Spring League to gain some more exposure and playing time alongside other elite athletes. His strong performance during the camp earned him a tryout with the Washington Redskins, which ultimately led to him earnings an active roster spot with the ‘Skins.
