From Pflugerville, Texas, Johnson was an All-State, All-Area, and 2x All-District performer at multiple positions, and was ranked inside ESPNU’s top 150 national prospects. He decided to stay close to the home, committing to the University of Texas.
Johnson played 4 seasons as a Longhorn, serving as a RB/WR and a prolific kick and punt returning. He ranks tied for 4th in school history in kickoff returns (44), 7th in kickoff return yards (976), 10th in kickoff return average (22.2) and 8th in punt return yards (396). He also finished with 85 receptions for 873 yards and 3 TD’s, along with 58 rushes for 459 yards and 2 TD’s. He was a 2015 honorable mention All-Big 12 selection.
At age 23, the 5’9″ 180 lb Johnson joined The Spring League in 2017 in order to showcase his skills against elite competition in front of NFL scouts.
